Marissa's Homecoming

I meant to write this much sooner! Marissa returned from her mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the end of June and her homecoming took place two weeks later. Here are the highlights from the airport...

Our wonderful friends, the Wallis family, made the welcome home banner and door poster. They did the same when Zach came home from his mission. Thank you, Steph!

It was so nice of the family and friends who came from near and far for her homecoming.
Family from my side...

Family from David's side...

And amazing friends and neighbors...

We are so thankful for the love, friendship, and support we receive from everyone. It means so much to us. We missed those who couldn't make it. And Marissa bore the sweetest testimony in Sacrament meeting about her mission. She has grown so much, spiritually, and I'm hoping she believes that she can do all things through Christ just as promised in Philippians 4:13. Because missions are hard!

Dancing and Ollantaytambo (Mission Update)

The Sweetest Missionary Ever comes home in 6 days!

This week was a crazy week. A lot has happened but we also worked really hard.

This is Luz, she's a convert and she was dancing in her school so we went to watch. She's really cute.

Here they are dancing.

Here's Luz. I'm sure going to miss her!

We decided to take pictures with this hat. It's one of the traditional hats here in Peru.

One day we decided to go to Ollantaytambo. It is a tourist lugar about 45 minutes from Urubamba and part of our sector. It is really pretty.

Here they carry their babies on the back, like this.

This is a panay skirt. Panay means sister in Quechua and it's what they call the old people or the traditional people here in Peru. Isn't this skirt pretty?!

I hope you all have a good week!

Trio Take Three (Mission Update)

So I have news! I'm in trio!

This is the trio: Hna Quispe, Hna Cenepo, and I

This is Luz! I am going to miss her so much!

They celebrated Señor de Torrechayoc this last week and it was fun and loud.

They had a bunch of dancers and different people in costumes. It was way cool to see!

Today for P-day we went to some waterfalls.

Then as we were returning, we saw that there was a bull show and went to go watch a little.

Make a Wish (Mission Update)

So three days has passed since my last email but here's what happened:

My companion and I really wanted wings so we went out to eat one night.

Make a wish!

Cat!

This is a family we are teaching. She speaks more Quechua than Spanish, which makes it hard to teach, we usually visit with a member that speaks Quechua. Quechua is the language of the Incas, it's an old language that they teach in school and that the old people speak.

Today for P-day we made tacos. They were pretty good. Delicious.

Love always, Hermana Madsen

Chickens in a Stroller (Mission Update)

So this has been a long week. We've been in Cusco, returned to Urubamba and anxiously waited to see if there changes.... There's not! I'm staying in Urubamba with Hermana Cenepo for my last couple of weeks.

Monday I got to visit a family I knew in Cusco. This is Cris.

This is the Grande family.

The funny thing is that here in Peru there are chickens everywhere, and while teaching a family these chickens got into a stroller and they looked pretty comfortable so I had to take a picture.

Here's some mountain goats on the mountain. Two of them were fighting for the girl.

I hope you have a good week. Love ya!
