Gringas and Halloween (Mission Update)

Well we had Transfers and I have a new companion! Her name is Hermana Perry and she is from Idaho. Yep, we are now a companionship of gringas.

Yesterday was Halloween. We watched all the little kids dressed up and going store to store asking for candy, they were really cute. Here are the sons of my pensionista in their costumes.

We didn't do anything for Halloween but we did walk through the cemetery. It was both really cool and a little weird. They leave food and drinks for their dead.

The cemetery has houses for the dead, and then a yard for the dead and cupboards for the dead. It's pretty cool.

We also went exploring a little bit and found this cool place.

Meet our babies. ;) There's a type of bread named Wawa pan that they put on faces and we just had to take pictures. There you can also see my new companion, Hermana Perry.

We are doing lots of contacting to find new people to teach. While doing so we get lost and go exploring, because I am that bad with directions. But we have been working really hard and I am excited to see what's going to happen this cambia.

Love you all!

Marissa is doing great! I'm finally caught up again on her posts. It's been challenging to find time to get onto my computer because Marcus has been using it a lot lately for his online classes. Also, my hard drive has stopped working. 😕 That is where I put all of her photos she sends me.
She did mention that she is only hearing from us (her family) so PLEASE take a moment today to write her an email. Even if you don't know her personally, write to her and introduce yourself! Missionaries work HARD and need lots of support and encouragement. She'd love to hear from others. Her email addy is: marissa.madsen@myldsmail.net
If you own a pet, she'd love to see a photo as well.

Baptism (Mission Update)

This week we had a baptism, It was a small group but we had such fun. Evelin was so happy and her friend in the ward was able to baptize her. I gave one of the talks and had planned to talk on the Holy Ghost but when the first person started talking about the Holy Ghost I had to change my topic fast and talk about baptism. My companion told me I did well.

The group, with the bishop and a couple of members.

Of course, you need to take a selfie in these type of situations.

The Prophet, Russell M. Nelson was also here in Peru, in Lima, and so we got to watch a broadcast where he talked to all the missionaries in Peru. It was really nice to hear the prophet and listen to him and a member of the twelve talk to us. Later in the day he talked to the members in Peru and we brought along an investigator. The prophet surprised everyone by talking in Spanish. The whole chapel burst into applause and everyone was so happy.

Love you all and hoping you have a very wonderful week.

Bautismos, and P-day (Mission Update)

First, I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!

This last week we had one baptism and the other Hermanas that we share a sector with had another. For my companion and I, it was Friday morning, and her name is Miriam. Miriam set her own date. We were going to ask her, but before she told us she was going to baptized. Her mom was baptized before her, as was her little brother, Cristian. It was such a sweet surprise to hear her announce her baptism. She was nervous and shy and her testimony was so short but sweet. Basically just her telling us she was happy.

For the Hermanas, it was this sweet woman who is in a wheelchair. It was Saturday Morning that was her baptism. Here she is with the Hermanas:

For P-day today, we had a sort of competition, where we were in 4 groups and played 5 games. My team, the Potter Heads, won.

I wish you all a wonderful week!

Remember to keep God and Christ first in your lives. They will always bless you.

Love always, Hermana Madsen  (October 15, 2018)
